From staff reports
Palos Park police investigators are looking for a man and a woman suspected in a theft earlier this week at the Cal-Sag Trail parking area at 8600 W. Route 83.
Police said an unlocked vehicle in the parking area was entered and rummaged through, and credit cards were taken.
Within 90 minutes of the report, investigators tracked the credit cards to a liquor store in Chicago’s South Loop area and a nearby Walgreens store.
Palos Park investigators working with their counterparts in the western and northern suburbs, along with Chicago Police have developed information and located a surveillance video showing a man and woman that may be working the trail parking lot looking for targets of opportunity.
The pair seen in the video were using credit cards taken in the theft.
A clerk at the liquor store was interviewed and remembered them as being a “very large Hispanic woman and a thin Hispanic male.” Both are reported to be “younger.”
A vehicle they were driving at both the liquor store and Walgreens can been seen on the video.
Investigators believe this pair cruise trail parking lots looking for unlocked vehicles and then take items and promptly use credit cards they find to purchase liquor.
Police ask anyone who has information on the man and woman or their vehicle to call Palos Park Police Investigations Dispatch at 708-448-2191 or Investigations office at 708-671-3771.
